Govt confirms truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana caught up in terrorist attack in Burkina Faso

The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders has been caught up in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso.

In a press release issued and signed by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government described the development as disturbing.

According to the statement, the attack occurred in Titao, a town in northern Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026 where the truck transporting the traders was reportedly caught in the incident.

“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying Tomato Traders from Ghana which was caught in a Terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso on Saturday 14 February 2026,” the release stated.

The government indicated that the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently liaising with officials of the Burkinabe authorities to visit the attack site to gather details and identify any Ghanaians who may have been affected.

Officials are expected to establish the identities and condition of the traders involved as part of efforts to provide the necessary assistance.

The Ministry assured the public that further details would be communicated as investigations and engagements with the Burkina Faso authorities progress.
