Interior Minister review curfew on Karaga township in the Northern Region

The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has reviewed the Curfew hours on Karaga Township and its environs in the Karaga District of the Northern Region to 8: 00 pm to 4: 00 .

The review took effect Monday, April 20, 2026.

The Minister acted on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument to review the curfew hours.

In a statement, the government urged Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them, as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Karaga Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects/ weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted, the statement further said.
